Lenka Lichtenberg is an award-winning Canadian, Prague-born composer, singer (Yiddish, English, Czech, French, Hebrew), arranger, producer, ethnomusicologist (M.A. in ethnomusicology , York University 2003) and bandleader with 5 solo CD releases and several collaborations on her resume. She is in the midst of a diverse career, travelling across continents as a solo artist, or her six piece ensemble “Fray”. Recent performances include the Ethno-jazz festival in Wroclaw and World Fusion Music Festival in Sosnowiec, Poland; Folkove prazdniny and Samajim festivals in Czech Republic, klezfiesta in Argentina, concerts of original music in Montreal, Quebec City, and Prague, APAP showcase in New York, and the Chutzpah! Festival in Vancouver with Fray and Yair Dalal (February, 2012).

Bridges:

Lenka’s program with Roula Said, “Bridges: a Yiddish/Arabic musical dialogue", was presented by Small World Music at the Lula Lounge in Toronto in 2011. It will be featured on March 5, 2012, at the Al Green Theater in Toronto. The concert will launch the CD "Bridges Live at the Lula Lounge".

Lullabies from Exile:
A recording project-in-progress, a fusion of Yiddish and Iraqi music, with the oud and violin virtuoso Yair Dalal, with whom Lenka also gave concerts in Slovakia and Czech Republic in 2010 and 2011.

Songs for the Breathing Walls:
Live recordings of sacred songs in Hebrew with various international artists (David Doruzka and Tomas Reindl, Czech republic; Christian Dawid, Germany; Alexander Shonert, Russia/Czech Republic; Yair Dalal, Israel; Alan Hetherington, Anwar Khurshid, Canada) in Czech and Moravian synagogues. Release June 20, 2012.

English song-writing credits:
Lenka’s original song “Phoenix” is included on “World Jazz for Haiti” compilation CD of some of Canada’s leading jazz and world artists (September, 2010). Phoenix and several new songs in English will be included on a new compliation CD "Twelve" , to be released in early 2013.
