 This
version has evolved partially from songs " Ver hot aza meydele
" by Janet Fleishman (1907-1957) and Ich hob a kleynem yingele
" by Morris Rosenfeld (1862-1923), which in turn, were based
on an earlier Folksong of the same nature. The song must have crossed
the Atlantic Ocean several times. I learned it as a child in Prague,
from someone who learned it in Warsaw.
